Beauty Executives: Who Went Where in November 2022

As the year comes to a close, there has been a flurry of movement among executives fueled by retirements, retail expansion, and deal flow. Sephora has a new CEO and bolsters the UK and Canadian businesses with leadership appointments. Glossier makes key hires leading up to the launch of its first wholesale partnership with Sephora. And Patrick Ta Beauty appoints a new CEO following a minority investment.Shiseido Group President and CEO Masahiko Uotani will retire within the next two years. In 2023, Uotani's role will transition to chairman and CEO. A new management structure was announced, promoting the Senior Executive Officer China Region CEO Kentaro Fujiwara to President and Chief Operation Officer. Fujiwara joined the company in 1991 and has worked across a number of senior roles over the course of his career, the majority overseas in Europe, Korea, and China.LVMH announced the appointment of Guillaume Motte as President and CEO of Sephora. Since June, Chris de Lapuente, who also heads LVMH's selective distribution division, has held this position. He stepped in following the unexpected resignation of Martin Brok after only two years "due to a divergence of views." Guillaume Motte is already familiar with the Sephora business, having served as deputy CEO of LVMH Fashion Group in 2021. Before that, Motte served as Sephora Europe and Middle East President, beginning in March 2018.Sarah Boyd has been promoted to Managing Director of Sephora UK and will report to Sylvie Moreau, president of Sephora Europe and Middle East.
